2020 Annual Tax Sale Postponed Indefinitely

News & Updatescranetaxlaw.com

On March 24, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas announced that the 2020 Annual Tax Sale of delinquent property taxes would be postponed indefinitely. Originally, the Sale was scheduled to begin on May 8, 2020. The postponement is a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and no new date has yet been announced.

Taxpayers who are delinquent in their payment of 2018 property taxes that were due and payable in 2019 are still at risk of having their delinquencies sold at the 2020 Annual Tax Sale, whenever it is rescheduled. If you are unsure whether you have a delinquency, please check the Treasurer’s website here.
