Michael E. Crane was encouraged by his father from the time he started high school to enter into the legal profession. Mike started his law career in the Attorney General’s office as a law clerk before moving into private practice. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of real estate tax appeals. Mike uses this extensive knowledge and expertise to explain the complex nuances of property taxes and appeals to clients and, when warranted, to file an assessment appeal.
Mike has represented many clients in successful property tax appeals over the years, as well as securing refunds of taxes already paid by clients due to past factual errors in assessment, market value or property description. Mike concentrates solely on the legalities of property tax, representing properties for clients in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will Counties in the state of Illinois, as well as numerous other counties within and outside the state.
Mike believes in hard work and is passionate about solving taxpayer’s problems from securing substantial assessment reductions resulting in significantly lower tax bills to correcting erroneous tax bills, procuring property tax refund checks, obtaining exemptions from all or portions of real estate taxes, and creating new parcels according to the client’s desired configuration.
Mike enjoys helping people and is grateful that being an attorney allows him to do so. He is a supporter of Maryville Academy and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as well as a number of other Chicagoland charitable organizations.
